By using this website, you (hereafter “you,”) agree and accept this Member Agreement and Privacy Policy.

CPRA/ACLP Online Community

This Member Agreement and Privacy Policy describe membership in and use of information in the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) website, The Bench (“The Bench”). The Bench website is maintained by the CPRA, for the purposes of fostering collaboration, cooperation, and the exchange of information about the parks and recreation sector, realizing the full potential of parks and recreation as a major contributor to community health and vibrancy.

The CPRA is a membership organization of the 13 provincial and territorial parks and recreation associations and their extensive networks of service providers in over 90% of Canadian communities. The Bench website was created and is controlled by the CPRA.

The Bench website does not collect personally identifiable information on site users who are not members. It does collect general, non-personal identifiable information about anyone visiting the website. This includes information about your location and the type of device used to access the website.

Membership in The Bench website is voluntary and subject to the approval of CPRA, which reserves the right to revoke membership at any time.

Membership in The Bench website is only available to persons over the age of eighteen years of age.

You acknowledge, understand and agree that the information posted in your profile section (“Profile Information”) along with anything shared on The Bench is not private. It is public information and may be viewed or accessed by any other member of The Bench. This includes, but is not limited to your name, title, organization, email, phone number or other contact information.

You consent to the collection and retention by CPRA of any Profile Information, including any and all personal information on your profile and anything posted on The Bench.

You acknowledge, understand and agree that they have no expectation of privacy or confidentiality of any information posted on your profile section of The Bench. All of your Profile Information, along with anything posted on The Bench is available to all other members of The Bench.

You agree that by using and accessing The Bench that CPRA is not liable for the use of your Profile Information and anything posted on The Bench by other members. By using and accessing The Bench, you expressly release and hold harmless the CPRA for any use of your Profile Information and anything posted on The Bench by other members.

By joining The Bench, you consent and agree to receive emails and other communication from CPRA.

You agree that you will not post information about anyone other than yourself unless you have received express permission from other persons to publish specific information about themselves.

You agree to use information provided by other members only for purposes related to collaboration and expertise exchange. You and all other members of this site expressly agree not to use member information for any other purposes.

You may review, amend or remove your profile information, along with anything you posted on The Bench. You may resign membership and completely delete your profile by contacting the webmaster at info@cpra.ca.

CPRA collects any information or content you have provided to the CPRA and/or posted on your profile and posted on the Bench. This includes information in or about the information or content provided (i.e. metadata in a picture). CPRA collects information that other users or members may provide about you.

CPRA collects information and data about how you, members and other site users use and access this site. This includes information about the type of device used to access The Bench. CPRA uses this information for the purpose of improving the site. This information may be retained for an indefinite period. CPRA also retains backup copies of the information in order to ensure reliability.

Information shared on The Bench website is member-provided and does not represent an official policy or opinion of the CPRA.

The CPRA shares information it collects and member information with CPRA, its members, its staff and consultants, advisors and its provider of web services. CPRA does not use or share site data with others for commercial purposes (aside from website analytics), except that information members provide is available to other members. The CPRA may provide site information to others when required by law.

This Member Agreement and Privacy Policy may be amended by CPRA at anytime. The current Member Agreement and Privacy Policy may be viewed at any time on The Bench website.

Data hosting and hosting security is provided by a third-party.

CPRA Use of Personal Information

  1. Identifying Purposes: In general, CPRA’s purpose in gathering personal information is to improve our overall business performance. We use your personal information to aid us in providing our services to you and the public and for other general business purposes such as billing or client verification.
  2. Consent: The consent of an individual is required before CPRA collects or stores any personal information. As per the above, by using or accessing The Bench, you have consented to the collection and storage of certain information.
  3. Limiting Collection: The collection of personal information shall be limited to only that which is necessary for the purposes identified by CPRA. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means. CPRA also collects general internet data, including but not limited to IP addresses, previous internet history and cookies.
  4. Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention: Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. Information that is non-identifiable to specific individuals may be used for statistical purposes. Personal information does not include any Profile Information and anything posted on The Bench (as defined above).
  5. Accuracy: Personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used.
  6. Safeguards: Personal information shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. CPRA utilizes password protection, secure servers and other security systems, which are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and in line with industry standards.
  7. Openness: The CPRA’s privacy policies relating to information are available to all clients or candidates upon request.
  8. Individual Access: Upon request, any CPRA user, member or client may view their information that is kept on file with CPRA.
